Looking Ahead:  ICMS Centre for Applied Research in Service Management

In 2010, the College will launch the ICMS Centre for Applied Research in Service Management, which will focus on growing the research effort to support specialist teaching areas and target industries.  The Centre will provide a framework for research development and engage in active research collaboration with both industry colleagues and universities in Australia and abroad.

The Centre is ideally placed to leverage its access to the Touraust hotel network as a ’laboratory’ and will focus on service delivery across a number of business and management interdisciplinary areas, in addition to the collaborative projects under development.

The objectives of the ICMS Centre for Applied Research in Service Management are:

  • To act as a focus for research activities in applied service management and enhance the academic standing of the College through national recognition;
  • To facilitate research collaboration with service industries and other institutions;
  • To provide resources to target service industries;
  • To support staff development opportunities and mentor faculty staff; and
  • To become self-sustaining and make a positive contribution to the College through income generation.
