Course description

Tourism is one of Australia's leading export industries. The program provides students with global career options in areas as diverse as airlines, attractions, tour guidance and tourism development.

ICMS is a three-time winner of the NSW Tourism Award for Excellence in Tourism Education and ICMS tourism lecturers are current travel and tourism practitioners with local and international experience.
Subject areas include international fares and ticketing, tourism industry knowledge, service management, business communication, and travel industry services. Paid industry training is a feature of our international tourism programs.

Armed with paid industry training experience, when you graduate from ICMS you could join the successful ICMS graduates working as:

  • travel consultants;
  • tour operators;
  • airline marketers;
  • tourism bureau staff; and
  • convention organisers. 

Curriculum

ICMS International Tourism programs provide graduates with:

  • “Work ready” skills and attitudes developed through the combination of comprehensive on-campus study and nine months of paid industry training in international tourism;
  • An excellent graduate employment record and extensive links to the tourism industry;
  • A distinct edge through a well-rounded and multi-disciplinary qualification relevant to today’s tourism industry; and
  • A thorough understanding of key concepts and theories in international tourism combined with practical skills in tourism policy and planning, international fares and ticketing, tourism industry knowledge, service management, business communication, and travel industry services.

Additional qualifications

Graduates are eligible to sit for the worldwide examination for an IATA (International Air Transport Association) Travel & Tourism Foundation Diploma, the internationally accepted status for travel professionals.

Degrees

The international tourism program is available in the one year full-time Diploma, two year full-time Associate Degree or the three year full-time Bachelor of Business Administration.
