What is a full time load? |
|
|
|
All international Students must study full time. We have prepared the following guidelines to assist International students to understand better their study commitments.
1. International students must maintain a full-time study load while enrolled at ICMS
2. A full-time load is normally considered to be a study load in any given term which will allow a student to graduate in minimum time (the standard progression pattern).
3. A student may apply to the College for a reduction in load in any term setting out the specific reasons for such application. The College will decide each case on its merits. Any approved reduction in load must allow an international student to complete their award within the time limit imposed by their student visa.
4. A student who is granted a reduction in study load will still be considered as a full-time student provided the study load in any given term is at least 75% of the load specified in the standard progression pattern.
This means:
1. BBA, Associate Degree, Diploma or ICMS Specialist Degree (Note: Terms are numbered according to the chronology from the date of enrolment. This allows students to vary their subject choice with any term but lets us be specific about a full-time load)
- Term 1, 5 subjects for standard progression pattern; Approval may be given for 4 subjects minimum
- Term 2, 5 subjects for standard progression pattern; Approval may be given for 4 subjects minimum
- Term 3, Industry Training – Full time IT or a combination of part-time IT and academic study which is equal to or greater than 75% of a standard pattern load. For example working 19 hours per week plus taking two subjects is greater than 75% of the standard pattern but 19 hours per week plus one subject is not
- Term 4 Industry Training – see above.
- Term 5 5 subjects for standard progression pattern; Approval may be given for 4 subjects minimum
- Term 6 5 subjects for standard progression pattern; Approval may be given for 4 subjects minimum
- Term 7 4 subjects for standard progression; In exceptional cases approval may be given for 3 subjects minimum
- Term 8 4 subjects for standard progression; In exceptional cases approval may be given for 3 subjects minimum
- Term 9 4 subjects for standard progression; In exceptional cases approval may be given for 3 subjects minimum
2. BBM

- Term 2 4 subjects for standard progression; In exceptional cases approval may be given for 3 subjects minimum
- Term 3 4 subjects for standard progression; In exceptional cases approval may be given for 3 subjects minimum
- Term 4 Industry Training – Full time IT or a combination of part-time IT and academic study which is equal to or greater than 75% of a standard pattern load. For example working 19 hours per week plus taking two subjects is greater than 75% of the standard pattern but 19 hours per week plus one subject is borderline – two is safe.
