Admission with Credit for Previous Studies (Advanced Standing)Applicants who can demonstrate successful completion of equivalent units of study at a recognised university or college may be eligible for credit towards a program of study at ICMS. If credit is granted the applicant will receive exemption from the equivalent unit(s). Applications for advanced standing must be made at least thirty days before program commencement (or immediately upon application if applying within 30 days). Applications for Advanced Standing must include: - Sealed, certified copies of your full academic transcript;
- Official copies of the curriculum for the course of study undertaken by the applicant, including descriptions of each subject, the duration of tuition for each subject in hours, and credit weighting for each subject.
All official documents in any language other than English must also be accompanied by an official translation into English, bearing the stamp and signature of a certified translator. A minimum of 50% of the academic program must be completed at ICMS in order to be eligible for an ICMS award. Credit for previous studies therefore cannot exceed 50% of the required units irrespective of successful prior studies. Recognition of Prior LearningApplicants who can demonstrate their competence attained through formal training, work experience and/or life experience may be eligible for credit towards a program of study at ICMS. Such credit is termed “Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)” and differs from advanced standing in acknowledging the acquisition of skills and knowledge in order to demonstrate current competency, rather than requiring proof of having completed an equivalent academic qualification at a comparable education provider. If RPL is granted the applicant will receive exemption from the equivalent unit(s). Application for RPL must be made at least 30 days before program commencement (or immediately upon application if applying within 30 days) and must include evidence that demonstrates the achievement of the competencies claimed such as: - Copies of qualifications attained, or
- Statements of employment, or
- Examples of work completed.
All official documents in any language other than English must also be accompanied by an official translation into English, bearing the stamp and signature of a certified translator. A minimum of 50% of the academic program must be completed at ICMS in order to be eligible for an ICMS award. RPL therefore cannot exceed 50% of the required units irrespective of successful prior studies. Late applications cannot be accepted as the RPL process takes a minimum of two weeks to complete. Exemption from Industry TrainingApplicants seeking exemption from the Industry Training component of an ICMS award must provide certified proof of at least: - 600 hours of work experience with an approved organisation to gain exemption from Industry Training in the diploma program, or;
- 1200 hours of appropriate work experience with an approved organisation to gain exemption from Industry Training in the degree or associate degree program.
