Industry Training Overview

Industry Training is coordinated by the Industry Training & Development Department and is a compulsory component of all undergraduate programs. During Industry Training, students are required to undertake employment with a suitable and relevant industry employer and achieve a required number of hours with that employer.

 

The Industry Training period is approximately nine months full time, or the equivalent part-time. During Industry training all student are required to accrue 1200 hours of employment, with sport students being the exception as they can achieve a minimum of 600 hours. One-year diploma students also complete 600 hours of Industry Training. Industry training may be taken as full time, part time or volunteer work.

In order for students to be prepared for Industry Training, Industry Training & Development requires that all students complete an Industry Training preparation program. This program involves a number of compulsory activities including presentation attendance, resume drafting and interview preparation.

Once a student meets all the expectations required prior to the commencement of Industry Training, Industry Training & Development will assist with industry placement and is available to provide on-going support and guidance for all students in regards to Industry Training.

Students will be assessed at various stages of Industry Training. Workplace supervisors will complete two performance reports and students are required to complete a workplace assignments. The reports and assignments are then submitted to Industry Training & Development for marking. Students are expected to achieve a pass grade in each area to satisfy the requirements of Industry training.
