Sunday 31st January
So I had survived my first night living on campus, the view from my room was amazing and such a great way to wake up! Thankfully breakfast is served later on weekends, allowing me to my usual Sunday sleep in.
There was nothing specific planned for this day, as so many people were checking in to live on campus. I met some great people from all around the world.
Monday 1st February
This morning, everyone starting for the term arrived, there were so many people it was a little intimidating!
We were split into groups after breakfast with people from all different backgrounds, and did some group activities to get to know each other. After which, there were a couple of information sessions and a college tour to get to know the college a bit better and where to go.
Tuesday 2nd February
Today focused on getting to know our specialisation and how the courses work at college. I study hospitality management, so began the day with a talk from Chris Harris who really made everyone excited for hospitality.
Everyone was feeling a lot more comfortable today, meeting new people and being confident enough to introduce yourself to new people.
During the evening there was the official welcoming ceremony for parents and all new students to attend, followed by a cocktail party overlooking Manly. It was such a great night, seeing everyone all dressed up, admittedly it was a bit hard to walk on the little pebbles in heels.
Wednesday 3rd February
Today mostly focused on general college life, in terms of the computer programs, our emails addresses, rearranging our timetables and how to log in and use blackboard/moodle. Honestly, not the most exciting day so far, but definitely needed to be done, otherwise I would have been extremely lost on day one.
Thursday 4th February
This was by far the best day of O-week, we were still in our groups, with teambuilding and fun activities planned for the day. The weather was amazing, so the rotation course was set up on the headland.
There was a tug-a-war rope challenge, a race through an inflatable maze, giant volleyball game and grass boarding. This day was a lot of fun, and great that everyone got involved.
The afternoon concluded with a surf safety lesson down at Manly Beach, this was focused more towards the international students, however we did get to go for a swim and sun-bake at the end.
Friday 5th February
It’s the end of o-week, it has been such a great week and I met so many new people, especially some I wouldn’t have had the chance to without this week.
The staff and current students who were there all week, definitely made it an awesome week! Thanks so much!
