Appeal Process

There will be a three step process for all grade reviews:

  • Step one – Grade Review
  • Step two – Grade Appeal
  • Step three – Procedural Appeal

Step one

The first stage of appeal is to the unit lecturer. Your lecturer will consider your appeal based on your written application.

Response: Unit lecturer to provide clarification of the results achieved for each assessment task

Timeline: Informal request made within five working days of receipt of the total subject result. Student notified of outcome within five working days

Step two

If the lecturer’s response has not addressed your concerns from your step one appeal, you may then appeal to the Academic Director by submitting a Request for Appeal of Final Exam Grades form (also available from Student Services) to Student Administration.

The Academic Director will then consider your appeal based on your written application together with the outcome of your Step one appeal and through consultation with the unit lecturer.

Response: Academic Director in conjunction with the Head of Program to review the appeal.

Possible outcomes include:

  • Re-marking of exam;
  • Incomplete followed by Supplementary examination;
  • No change to the result.

Timeline: Written appeal submitted within 10 working days of receipt of the total subject result. Student notified of outcome within 10 working days of submission of appeal

Step three

If your concerns are still not resolved you may then lodge a formal appeal to the Appeals Committee via Student Administration. Forms are available from Student Services.

Step three must be submitted within five working days of receiving the result of the step two appeal.

Response: Student Administration to convene the Appeals Committee.
