Stress Management

Staying healthy and maintaining a positive attitude is an important part of your education. Listed below are a series of self assessment questions to consider if you feel your stress levels rising:

  • What did you eat yesterday?  Was it healthy?
  • How much sleep do you need?  Is it enough?  How do you know?
  • How often do you exercise?   Does it refresh you enough to clear your head and improve your concentration?
  • Do you study best first thing in the morning or late at night?  Can you make adjustments to your schedule to maximise your best study times?
  • How do you relax when you feel tense?
  • How do emotional problems affect your study?  What do you do about them?
  • How well do you balance your studies and your social life?
  • Does your study spot provide sufficient light, quiet and structure?

These questions will alert you to any possible changes you may want to consider to enhance your academic potential and overall well-being.  If you are concerned about any aspect of your mental health, you should seek help immediately.  Contact your resident assistants for residential issues, class representatives for classroom concerns and the student affairs for student life related issues.
