The career-focused approach and unique industry training program of the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) has put the Northern Beaches, NSW, higher education institution ahead of leading traditional Australian universities when it comes to graduate employment job rates.
According to a national survey, ICMS has a higher graduate employment rate than the two Australian universities featured in the top 10 of the 2019 QS World University Rankings Surveys. A further two Australian universities were featured in the top 50 of the 2019 QS rankings, alongside other famous institutions such as Harvard University (US) and the University of Cambridge (UK).
“We applaud these universities for their fantastic rankings in the QS World University Rankings Survey as an indication of the overall quality and international reputation of the Australian Higher Education system,” ICMS President and CEO Dr Dominic Szambowski said.
ICMS was not part of the QS World University Rankings Survey that put Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in America at the top of the list, followed by Stanford University at second place. However, the latest graduate statistics from the national Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) 2017 Survey, which can be used to compare Australian tertiary institutions on a level playing field, shows that ICMS’ graduate employment job rate, at 77%, is higher than both the universities featured in the QS Top 10.
The national average full-time graduate employment rate stands at 70.6%, according to QILT.
“It is interesting to compare our extraordinary graduate employment job rate alongside these Australian universities, in a national survey of which we are all a part, as a means to illustrate how ICMS punches above its weight in the national higher education landscape,” Szambowski said.
“We believe our strong focus on industry training as a key component of our academic degrees and courses pays off for our graduates as they find their footing in their chosen career sooner than students from other universities and colleges.”
Full-time employment is defined by QILT as the proportion of graduates who were employed full-time four months after completing their course, as a percentage of those who were available for full-time employment.
