ICMS Graduate Scores Arsenal FC Role in the UK

February 19, 2020

Australian International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) alumna Bec Posel has scored a career goal by securing a position at Arsenal Football Club in London, UK.

Arsenal Football Club is a professional football club, based in England, that plays in the Premier League, the top flight of English football.

Posel, who graduated in 2019 with an ICMS Bachelor of Sports Management degree, is currently a Meetings and Events Coordinator at Arsenal FC, with all her organised events based at Emirates Stadium.

With a capacity of over 60 000, Emirates Stadium is the fourth-largest football stadium in England after Wembley Stadium, Old Trafford and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“I co-ordinate and deliver a wide range of internal and external events representing Arsenal FC, and liaise directly with the Arsenal Sales team to explore potential up-selling and cross-selling opportunities for the club,” Posel said.

The content of the ICMS Bachelor of Sports Management and practical experience embedded within the degree benefitted Posel in both securing her Arsenal FC role, and in furthering her career within the sports industry.

“The Bachelor of Sports Management degree at ICMS allowed me to develop a broad understanding of how the management and governance within the business of sport works on a global scale. This degree offers students the ability to engage in a range of management functions, including marketing, event and facilities management,” she said.

“After completing my degree I was inspired to move to the UK and achieve my goal of working in events for a professional and internationally recognised sporting organisation.”

Posel previously completed her first degree at an Australian university, but was attracted to study further at ICMS, located in Northern Beaches, Sydney, NSW, for the support the career-focused higher education institute offers its students.

“I wished to further my studies at an institution where I could work closely with my lecturers and tutors and feel supported throughout my whole degree,” Posel said.

To students considering ICMS as a tertiary education provider, Posel advised: “Utilise the connections and opportunities the college has to offer. I highly recommend attending or volunteering at the industry-related summits; these are a great way to make connections in your chosen career path!”

Whilst completing her degree at ICMS, Posel worked as the Events Coordinator for the NSW Waratahs for two consecutive Super Rugby Seasons.
