New ICMS SRC President Outlines Ambitions

September 18, 2019

International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) new Student Representative Council (SRC) President Malina Weinhold plans to make the organsation even more accessible to the diverse study body made up of international and domestic students.

Weinhold, originally from Germany, has lived in Australia since 2016 when she embarked upon an ICMS Bachelor of Business Management degree. She has been a part of the SRC for around a year, and is also part of the Student Success Centre (SSC) Peer Assisted Learning Service (PALs). Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, Weinhold plans to start her Master of Business Management in 2020.

“I have been part of the SRC team for about a year, I know what is going on and what needs to be changed. We got asked if anyone of us would like to run for president, so I decided to give it a try,” Weinhold said.

“I want to make the SRC more popular and I want people to know what we are doing. The SRC team needs to engage more with students and their needs.”

ICMS, located in Northern Beaches, Sydney, NSW, draws students from all over the world. The SRC strives to improve and maintain the quality of student life for the entire student body via formal and informal social activities, both on and off campus.

Elected by their peers, the SRC acts as an advocate for the student body with the elected SRC President taking charge of the events and activities. The SRC is the voice of the students and represents all students’ views on academic issues to the college. The SRC supports and represents the student body in any possible way. This not only gives students the forum to voice their views, but also gives the college valuable feedback when planning for the future.

The SRC also works closely with the Student Experience Team to plan and organise a range of social activities, including major events such as our College Icebreaker party and themed events such as talent shows, karaoke, cocktail and movie nights. The SRC holds special events including Australia Day, Oktoberfest, Thanksgiving and Asian Noodle Market nights. For the classically minded, there are opportunities to attend concerts and plays in Sydney theatres, open-air venues and even the Sydney Opera House.
