Our study tours are part of what makes ICMS a global college with an international perspective. For 31 Event Management students in September, it was light, camera, fashion as they journeyed from Manly to Manhattan on a 12 day study tour.
Students had four days of practical event staging experience volunteering at two high profile New York Fashion Week events.
Accompanied by three academic staff members, Juliet Hudson, Vicki Garlick and Anne Marie Flynn, our students also had behind the scenes inspections with guest presentations from New York event management professionals at iconic venues like Madison Square Gardens and Radio City Hall, as well as the prestigious Plaza and The Waldorf Hotels which gave them invaluable insight into event venue operations
A tour highlight was an alumni networking lunch in a private room at The Waldorf Hotel. ICMS graduates forging Event/Hospitality careers in New York spoke to our students regarding their careers post study.
This successful study tour, initiated by Vicki Garlick, is a great example of the innovative teaching and applied learning techniques being implemented by our Academic team.
