Dr Mirrin Locke completed her PhD in Tourism Management in 2012 at the University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand. Her thesis looked at the complexities of strategic planning and management at the industry sector level, utilizing the business events sector as a case for analysis. More recently her research has focused on sustainability for the events sector and the importance of the host community for ensuring positive outcomes for tourism and events within a destination. She has been teaching Tourism and Event Management since 2005, most recently at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology in Rotorua, New Zealand. Originally from Canberra, Mirrin returned to Australia and joined the ICMS faculty in February 2019.
