Professional Placement Consultant

The International College of Management, Sydney is seeking a Professional Placement Consultant in the Work Integrated Learning team

  • Maternity relief (6-month contract)

  • Location(s): ICMS Manly, and City Campus as required

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is central to the learning and teaching strategy at ICMS and our purpose of educating students for personal success in their professional life.

ABOUT THE WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING TEAM

The Professional Placement Consultant is part of the Employability Department Office, an office responsible for enabling learning activities that integrate theory with practice and facilitate the application of academic learning in experiential settings. This includes the preparation, placement, monitoring and assessment of students undertaking WIL (industry) placements; and the establishment and development of industry relationships.

The Professional Placement Consultant will support the goals of the WIL Office by embracing excellence in the area of student placement. This will include building and managing a portfolio of industry and employer relationships, proactively identifying and pursuing opportunities to grow new industry relationships for placement purposes and providing on-going placement support and guidance to placement providers.

The position will involve on-going student engagement for placement purposes in order to enhance student readiness for placement, best align students with their placement provider and monitor and mentor students during their WIL placement.

The position encompasses the administrative and quality assurance processes required to ensure mutually beneficial placements for students, industry and placement providers, the community and ICMS.

Working closely with industry and employers, students, faculty staff and WIL colleagues, you will play an integral role in achieving our purpose of educating students for personal success in their professional life.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. WIL Placements for eligible students

  • The position will involve on-going student engagement for placement purposes in order to enhance student readiness for placement, best align students with their placement provider and monitor and mentor students during their WIL placement.
  • Working closely with industry and employers, students, faculty staff and WIL colleagues, you will play an integral role in achieving our purpose of educating students for personal success in their professional life.

2. Quality Assurance, Coordination and Planning

  • Pro-actively contribute to review and benchmarking activities to identify and implement process improvements to support a quality framework for WIL placements including quality assurance steps for industry partners and the monitoring and supervision of students
  • Contribute to the review of WIL subjects, which lead to improvements designed to enhance the quality of the student experience
  • Other related duties, consistent with the role, as requested by key personnel

3. Systems and Processes

  • Contribute to the development of efficient processes for all aspects of the WIL Office and undertake regular reviews
  • Manage documentation and administrative tasks relating to the WIL placements including data management and other systems requirements to ensure accurate and timely industry and student placement records are maintained
  • Together with WIL Colleagues, perform timely subject and program coordination as required in the area of WIL (i.e. student enrolment, eligibility, progression)
  • Other related duties, consistent with the role, as requested by key personnel

ABOUT YOU

As the ideal candidate, you will have/ be able to demonstrate:

  • Degree qualified in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated business development skills and ability to build, maintain and develop strong external and internal relationships
  • An understanding of recruitment and placement processes, with an interest in supporting students to develop and enhance their graduate employability
  • skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of work-integrated learning and its relevance to the required industries
  • Demonstrated cross cultural skills and an understanding of the different approaches required
  • Superior computing skills (word, excel, powerpoint etc)
  • Ability to plan, organise and achieve work targets, sometimes in demanding circumstances and work harmoniously and constructively with colleagues
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail and an ability to focus on continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively across an organisation to implement key initiatives and projects
  • Ability to work according to a timeline and accomplish key deliverables by balancing competing priorities
  • Previous experience in the areas of study offered by the College (desirable)
  • An understanding of the Australian HE and VET sectors (desirable)
