Subject Aim:

Work integrated learning (WIL) is an important opportunity for students to apply the learning from their core and specialisation subjects and to hone essential workplace skills.

To achieve this, WIL801 incorporates approaches to learning that recognise and utilises contributions from both academic and workplace settings through intentional integration of theory and practice.

Meaningful introductory work experience in this subject, coupled with rigorous academic studies, provides students with the opportunity to place their studies in context by working on an assigned project.

Students will be given the opportunity to identify, analyse and develop a solution to solve a problem within an industry setting. They will reflect on their career goals through new insights into a workplace and discipline-specific cultural and behavioural expectations.

Students are supported by academic supervisors in small groups and one-on-one meetings to guide them in their skills development and critical reflections.

Learning Outcomes:

a) Analyse and critique the main discipline based practices used in specific business contexts.
b) Design, plan and execute a project in the specialised field of study as instructed by the workplace supervisor.
c) Analyse and synthesise relevant business information in order to develop evidence-based and sustainable solutions for a workplace setting.
d) Succinctly communicate work related issues and outcomes to a range of organisational stakeholders.
e) Critically reflect and generate insights on workplace culture, relevant professional expectations and career aspirations.

Student Assessment:
