Subject Rationale:

Economic growth is powered by the success of products and services created and sold by entrepreneurial business and powered by innovation. To create new sources of revenue, business leaders need forward-thinking individuals who turn ideas into a reality and create new markets.

This subject is designed based on an integrated strategy framework for growth-oriented entrepreneurship. Students will explore organisational life cycles; strategic choices facing start-ups in times of uncertainty and complexity and develop entrepreneurial strategies. As part of this subject, MBA students will be exposed to a small start-up community and learn through live cases, exploring the strategic choices that entrepreneurs face when starting and scaling their business.

Learning Outcomes:

a) Critically evaluate and apply advanced theories and concepts underpinning entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial strategies.

b) Critically evaluate logistical and professional challenges faced by entrepreneurs.

c) Apply highly developed analytical skills to identify and evaluate entrepreneurship opportunities to scale business.

d) Develop strategies to balance risk and entrepreneurial return objectives.

e) Develop a business plan and effectively present the venture proposal in written and oral format to relevant stakeholders.
