This subject provides students with the opportunity to complete an Action Learning Project in a workplace environment under the supervision of a company executive. Students will typically work on one defined project using a Business-Driven Action Learning approach (BDAL), in a small team or as a pair.
This supervised team-based project focuses on deliverable improvements of practices in an existing business or the development of a new business opportunity, business challenge and/or leadership dilemmas drawing on knowledge from multiple business disciplines which students have acquired on the MBA course. This subject provides students with the opportunity to apply what they have learned and to demonstrate they can effectively integrate and contribute to a workplace environment.
As with all WIL subjects at the ICMS, WIL8011A also allows students the opportunity to explore their professional interests, test their industry expectations, apply, practice and develop real world employability skills, and form professional networks for future career success.
a) Apply management skills and advanced knowledge that contribute to resolving a complex business challenge or dilemma in professional practice
b) Utilise inquiry methods to investigate, analyse and synthesise evidence to provide and justify recommendations and improvements for an organisation
c) Effectively communicate using a range of media to a diverse group of business stakeholders with authority
d) Critically reflect on the skills required to function effectively in a senior management role in a selected industry sector
