Subject Aim:

International business involves transactions as well as related barriers to international trade and investment between two or more countries, encompassing relationships among private individuals, companies, groups, non-profit organisations, or government agencies. While an extension of domestic business, it differs for two key reasons. Firstly, international business objectives often vary from domestic ones. Secondly, the environmental conditions in international business are usually more complex due to differences in culture, currencies, legal systems, and national resource endowments.

This subject introduces the impact of multinational operations on business strategy and decision-making by delving into the economic, political, financial, legal, and social aspects of the international environment. It examines the formulation, selection, and implementation of multinational strategies within the context of the global business environment.

Learning Outcomes:

a) Analyse various important aspects of international business operations including the profile of multinational corporations (MNCs), their role in international business and various trade theories.

b) Evaluate the specific aspects of international business operations.

c) Critically appraise various risks and examine their impacts on international business operations.

d) Design and apply international business strategies to successfully conduct international business transactions.
