MGT201A
Leadership is not a position or a personality but a process. Leadership can be developed and is often shared by individuals who choose to contribute towards achieving goals bigger than themselves.
To become an effective leader of individuals and teams, one needs to develop self-awareness: a sense of their leadership style and strengths, as well as an understanding
of how teams operate.
This subject examines leadership theories, traits and behaviours, providing students with the opportunity to conduct a comprehensive self-analysis of their goals, values and strengths, which supports their authentic leadership style.
Working in groups, students will be able to analyse their leadership in action, and reflect on how they have contributed to the group’s overall performance.
MGT201B
Leadership is not defined by a title or personality; it is a process. It can be developed and is often shared among individuals who choose to contribute toward goals greater than themselves. To lead effectively, whether as an individual or within a team, one must cultivate self-awareness, understanding their own leadership style, strengths, and how teams function. This subject explores leadership theories, traits, and behaviours, giving students the opportunity to conduct a comprehensive self-analysis of their goals, values, and strengths to support an authentic leadership style.
Students will engage with leadership theories, examine group dynamics and team functioning, and apply leadership principles in a simulated team environment to observe and reflect on leadership in action. Additionally, the subject considers the impact of cultural dimensions on leadership practice and how leaders navigate complexity, emerging technologies, and uncertainty in the evolving future of work. Students will create a Leadership Development Portfolio as part of their learning journey.
