Unlocking Your Leadership Potential

This subject is available under ICMS undergraduate degrees, please click the button below to find an undergraduate course for you.

Subject Code:

MGT201A

Subject Aim:

Leadership is not a position or a personality but a process. Leadership can be developed and is often shared by individuals who choose to contribute towards achieving goals bigger than themselves.

To become an effective leader of individuals and teams, one needs to develop self-awareness: a sense of their leadership style and strengths, as well as an understanding
of how teams operate.

This subject examines leadership theories, traits and behaviours, providing students with the opportunity to conduct a comprehensive self-analysis of their goals, values and strengths, which supports their authentic leadership style.

Working in groups, students will be able to analyse their leadership in action, and reflect on how they have contributed to the group’s overall performance.

Learning Outcomes:

a) Analyse key leadership theories and approaches.

b) Examine personal leadership capabilities to develop and evolve authentic leadership.

c) Examine how groups form, develop and perform.

d) Analyse how individual traits influence participation and leadership in groups.
