ICMS students got an exclusive look at Adobe, the global tech giant behind tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro, during a recent visit to its Sydney office.
The event, ‘Future Skills for a Digital Workforce, was packed with hands-on activities, career advice, and plenty of inspiration for undergraduate and postgraduate students from information technology and business courses.
Excursions like this are a key part of the ICMS experience, giving students the chance to connect with industry leaders, build their networks, and explore career opportunities.
By stepping out of the classroom and into real-world workplaces, students get a firsthand look at what’s possible in their chosen fields.
For the students, the visit to Adobe was about seeing how creativity and technology come together to shape the future of work.

Kaitlin Hartley, Creative Campus Lead, kicked things off with a session on why creativity is a must-have skill for the future.
Students got hands-on with Adobe Express, creating resumes, portfolios, and other projects.
Kaitlin explained Adobe’s mission to make creativity accessible: “Creativity isn’t just for graphic designers – it’s for everyone. And anyone can be creative.”
She also introduced Adobe’s Creative Campus initiative, which partners with universities to help students build digital and creative skills.
“We’re seeing the need for creativity rise across all industries,” she said.
“It’s about preparing students for the workforce and making sure everyone has access to the tools they need.”
Ben Williams, Principal Enterprise Architect, gave students a crash course on enterprise architecture.
He explained how the role involves taking a big-picture view of a company’s tech setup to make it more efficient and future ready.
“We connect the dots,” he said.
“It’s about looking at all the tools in play and finding ways to simplify, cut costs, and plan for the future.”
Ben also shared some career advice: “You need to be adaptable. You’ve got to pivot quickly between talking to IT teams and business leaders. And yes, you need to know how to make a good PowerPoint!”
The day wrapped up with a panel featuring Adobe professionals Madeleine Couter, Peggy Lohman, and Jessica Kremer. They shared their career journeys, study pathways, and tips for breaking into the industry.
