International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) congratulates ICMS Event Management lecturer and Event Director Vicki Garlick for her outstanding performance at the recent Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

Garlick is the founder and CEO of air events global. The company won silver in the Startup of the Year category at the 14th annual event which took place on Friday, 17 November, during a gala event attended by more than 550 people at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

The Stevie Awards are the world’s top honour for female entrepreneurs, executives, employees and the organisations they run.

Garlick has been a lecturer in the Events Management department at ICMS since 2008, and is also the Northern Beaches’ higher education institute’s Events Director. She was previously managing director of Garlick’s Model and Management Agency, between 1995 and 2005.

“We offer our hearty congratulations to Vicki on her Stevie Awards Silver medal, for the recognition of her success in the challenging world of business, the events industry and in startups,” ICMS CEO and President Dr Dominic Szambowski said.

“Her win is also a win for ICMS. Vicki represents the level of excellence in industry to which our students are exposed, and from which they benefit enormously. Well done, Vicki, we are proud of you and proud to be associated with you and your event management prowess.”

According to a press release issued by the organisers, more than 1,500 nominations from organisations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in many prestigious categories, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Executive of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year, among others. Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 170 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process.

Air events global was launched in May this year as a shared economy platform/double-sided marketplace for the events industry, connecting clients with event freelancers with casual and contract work, anywhere in the world.
