The ICMS Marketing Moves Masterclass, themed ‘Corporate Confidence Unlocked’, wasn’t a lecture or presentation – it was a vibrant panel discussion featuring two experienced industry leaders sharing their insights side by side.
The panel featured Debbie Hatumale-Uy, Chief Marketing Officer of Realise Business, and Jameson Clifton, Principal of Group Content and Digital Marketing at Unispace.
Facilitated by ICMS Marketing Communications Manager Skye Swan, the June masterclass held at the Northern Beaches Campus created a space for students to gain practical advice and hear real-world stories about thriving in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
Debbie, also the founder of the six-figure e-commerce brand Only The Sweet Stuff, brought her dynamic entrepreneurial experience right to the table. She emphasised the importance of taking risks and seizing opportunities, even if the path isn’t fully clear.
“I think the one piece of advice I’d give to anybody is to say yes,” Debbie shared with the students.
“Even if you don’t know how to do it. Entrepreneurs often jump off the cliff and figure out how to build the plane on the way down.”
Her message inspired students to think beyond their comfort zones and view challenges as opportunities for growth.
Jameson offered a complementary perspective, focusing on the practical skills needed to communicate effectively and stand out in a competitive industry.
With nearly a decade of global experience, his insights were rooted in real-world applications.
“Once you get started in your career, or even as you’re leaving university, it’s essential to get really crisp with your communication,” he explained.
“Whether it’s on your resume or in conversations, tell people what you achieved. Don’t just outline your role – that’s already known. Show them how you made an impact.”
Together, the panelists stressed the importance of balancing bold decision-making with clear, impactful communication – a message that resonated deeply with the room.
The collaborative format of the panel allowed for a dynamic exchange not just between Debbie and Jameson but also with the students, who were encouraged to ask questions and interact directly with the speakers.
The Marketing Moves Masterclass proved to be more than just a session of advice – it was a catalyst for confidence.
From Debbie’s “say yes” mindset to Jameson’s call for results-driven communication, students left with game-changing insights they could immediately apply to their own paths.
This panel was just one example of how ICMS connects education with real-world experience.
By bringing industry leaders to campus, ICMS ensures students graduate with not just theoretical knowledge, but the insights, tools, and inspiration to thrive in today’s fast-paced job market.
The Marketing Moves Masterclass was a space where connections were built, ideas were shared, and confidence was unlocked – setting the stage for the next generation of innovators and leaders.
