We recently had the pleasure of hosting an online Q&A with P.E Nation founders Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning, where they both shared their top business tips from their journey to success in the creative and ever-changing fashion industry.
Both Pip and Claire were working alongside each other at Sass & Bide, before taking a leap of faith and starting their own urban streetwear athleisure label. With valuable experience under their belt and many lessons learnt, the P.E Nation founders had many incredible tips and advice to give to our students.
Here are the top five insightful business lessons we learnt from the founders of P.E Nation.
Always stay true to who you are as a person and your career goals! It can be easy to get caught up in the fast-changing trends, or what other people are doing. However, if you stay authentic to yourself and create a career that will continuously inspire you, you will achieve success!
One the biggest points that both Claire and Pip talked about was how each of them work to their own personal strengths. Claire focuses on the creative designs, while Pip is the creative director behind the brand. Realising what your strengths and weaknesses are will allow you to focus on what you’re good at and leave the rest to others!
Both P.E Nation Founders were seeking athleisure-workout clothing that not only focused on functionality, but also on style. Thus, P.E Nation was created – an urban streetwear brand with an athleisure focus. They spotted a gap within the market and decided to solve it with products that combines exercise wear with streetstyle.
Selling a “look” rather than a singular product is one of the ways P.E Nation showcases the versatility of their products. They sell the full outfit, such as their leggings, the sports top and the puffer jacket. This not only gives their consumers styling inspiration, but gives them a reason to add more to their basket, which is savvy business!
The rapport between Pip and Claire was great! It’s obvious that they respect and like each other so much. They show that business can be fun! The P.E Nation founders emphasised the importance of having fun and working with people that are passionate and fun to work with.
This online Q&A session with the P.E Nation founders is only the beginning! We have lots of exciting ICMS fashion events coming up in the next year, so make sure to stay tuned for those!
