A marketing internship with Under Armour is an added bonus of her Australian experience for ICMS Study Abroad student Bianca Gonzalez Soto.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Bianca is studying a Business of Creative Enterprise degree at Emerson College in Boston, USA.
She’s in Australia as a Study Abroad student, and with that came the internship at one of the world’s biggest sportswear brands.
Her internship is part of ICMS’s Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program, which is designed to give students hands-on industry experience while they study.
At Under Armour, Bianca has been able to work on exciting projects like brand campaigns and behind-the-scenes content creation.
“No day is the same,” she says.
“I go from DMing elite athletes to sending PR boxes for campaigns we’re doing or even doing visual merchandising, which I never thought I would do.”
“Working on a brand campaign was definitely a highlight,” Bianca shares.
“I was shooting behind-the-scenes content and working with talent. It was a great opportunity that I never thought I would have.”
Bianca’s time at ICMS has been just as rewarding as her internship.
“The experience has been great,” she says.
“I love being walking distance from the beach. I’ve taken up surfing and beach tennis, which is awesome.
“Plus, the academic culture is amazing, and dressing professionally for class really sets me up for the day.”
For Bianca, the people and culture at Under Armour have been the standout features of her internship.
“Everyone’s so nice and inviting, and I’m learning so much from them,” she says.
The experience has also brought her closer to her dream of working for a global company.
“With this internship, I think it’s possible,” she adds.
Bianca credits ICMS for helping her land such an incredible opportunity.
“I recommend ICMS. It’s near the beach, it’s a castle on the hill, it has great classes, and I got a really cool internship,” she says.
Her advice for other students?
“Be confident in how you present yourself, get feedback on your resume from friends and professors, and network as much as you can.”
For anyone considering studying in Australia, Bianca has one message: “You need to do it. It’s a great experience and it’s a great way to meet new people and see a different culture.”
At ICMS, features like WIL are helping students like Bianca bridge the gap between education and industry.
Whether it’s working with elite athletes or creating content for global campaigns, ICMS students are gaining the skills and experience they need to make their mark, and having a lot of fun along the way.
