Kok Yong Liew has served in a key management role at ICMS since its inception in 1996. He has been part of the ICMS journey of growth, from its beginnings as a college with a single academic specialisation to one educating students under multiple business disciplines in the higher education sector.
During his tenure with ICMS, he has also been involved in the financial management of ICMS’s previous affiliated hotel management business. He led the finance team of an Australian hotel group, with up to 20 mid-size hotels under its management, until it was divested in 2011.
Prior to joining ICMS, Kok Yong Liew worked in the property sector with international organisations and one of the ‘big 4’ accounting firms. He participated in capital raising exercises for an unlisted public company and has experience in dealing with the international banking consortium. In his early career, working with Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young) in the professional accounting sector, he saw the internal governance of listed corporations; reviewed complex group structures including mergers; valued businesses; and participated in the fraud investigation of a financial institute. Besides finance and accounting, his taxation grounding is mostly Australian based, stretching as far back as the new tax system reform in 2000.
With the hindsight of ICMS successfully navigating through several historical global crises, including the global financial crisis (GFC) and recently the COVID pandemic, Kok Yong Liew is committed to a conservative approach to financial management.
