Innovative teaching methods are increasingly being explored in higher education to foster deeper student engagement and improve learning outcomes. This project explores the use of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) as a pedagogical tool in sports, business and management disciplines to enhance student learning outcomes and experiences.
LSP is a facilitated, hands-on methodology that uses LEGO® bricks, minifigures and connectors to support creative thinking, problem-solving, and reflective dialogue. By analysing the integration of LSP into selected undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, the project aims to evaluate this methodology`s effectiveness in promoting student engagement, transferable skills development, and collaborative learning.
The findings will contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting experiential and active learning strategies in higher education. Outcomes will inform evidence-based teaching innovation and support the integrating LSP into curriculum design to better prepare students for the future workforce.
About the study
The research is supported by the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) Research Group at ICMS. In 2026, the preliminary findings were disseminated in a showcase session at the HERDSA 2026 Conference at the National University of Singapore, held from 6–9 July 2026.
