Australian Technology Skills Grant for IT students

ICT versus IT

The Australian Technology Skills Grant offers A$6,000 towards tuition fees to support domestic students starting out in technology careers. This is to help meet Australia’s growing need for skilled tech professionals.

Applicants who enrol in one of three ICMS information technology (IT) bachelor’s degrees may be eligible for this financial support:

The grant assists in reducing the overall cost of study, making entry into tech fields more accessible. It also contributes to expanding expertise in areas such as cyber security, data analytics, and IT infrastructure across Australia.

Why the grant matters

Australia’s technology sector continues to face a shortage of qualified professionals. The Australian Tech Leaders Survey 2025 highlights ongoing challenges in recruiting and retaining staff, particularly those with skills in cyber security and artificial intelligence.

An increased number of industry-ready graduates is essential for continued growth, innovation, and security within the sector.

The Australian Technology Skills Grant offers both practical and financial support, helping recipients develop the real-world skills that employers value in this fast-evolving industry.

How to Apply

Eligible domestic students can apply to study information technology at ICMS through:

  • a direct application, or
  • our Early Entry Pathway.

There are a limited number of grants available for the May 2026, September 2026, February 2027, and March 2027 intakes. The grant cannot be combined with any other ICMS scholarship, bursary, or discount. It is applied directly to tuition fees, is non-refundable, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash. Ongoing eligibility requires full-time enrolment and satisfactory academic progress.
