About the role
The sessional lecturer contributes to the design, management and delivery of teaching subject modules within the Diploma of Sport Management (High Performance) program. Subject areas include but not limited to sports business, strategic management, sport management and marketing.
The Sessional Lecturer is responsible for providing a high-quality teaching and learning experience to students, achieved through ongoing development of scholarly activity in the allocated subject(s) and learning and teaching practice.
Examples of Accountabilities
- Teaching Duties as allocated by your Program Manager and UG Dean.
- Prepare and deliver classes in line with learning and teaching principles.
- Assess student assignments, give timely constructive feedback and grade student performance.
- Liaise on academic interventions to foster student engagement and success.
- Review and approve assessment extension requests within allocated subject, in line with relevant policy and procedure.
- Ensure all required levels of assessment moderation are carried out in line with relevant policy and procedure.
- Implement and contribute to early intervention strategies to improve student success.
- Teach at different locations and in different modes as agreed, ensuring quality and consistency in terms of content, delivery, assessments, and evaluation.
- Implement innovations in learning & teaching using technology.
- Attend end of term moderation and sign off procedures of student grades.
- Maintain skills in teaching, learning and assessment relevant to the needs of the student cohorts involved, and a qualification at least one level higher than is awarded for the course of study, or equivalent experience.
- Reflect on teaching practice contributing to the end of term review and revisions.
- Record scholarly activities in the online portal.
- Participate in relevant association/industry bodies by way of membership and/or active participation on association committees.
About you
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Master’s degree or PhD in Sport Management or a relevant discipline
- Proven track record of ability to teach a diverse range of students
- Industry experience and engagement with the sport and fitness professions
- Membership of relevant professional association
- Sound interpersonal and communications skills
- Experience working in a team-based environment
- Experience using online learning platforms and systems
- Valid Working with Children Check
