The field of business event management is intriguing due to its connection to the world of business travel, as well as the opportunity to engage with affluent travellers and innovative companies as a business event planner. Exploring destinations through their cultural, touristic, experiential, and gastronomic appeal is exciting, as well as selecting the best venue and talent for an event.
In this subject, students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate meaningful and transformative experiences among attendees in an event, thereby contributing to the development of business event sector, and the destinations in which these events take place. Students will gain the critical skills necessary to analyse the business events’ sector and understand its substantial impact on Australia’s and international visitor economies. Through the creation of an event bid, students will develop practical expertise in delivering a professional bid pitch which is an integral part of the events landscape.
a) Critique the composition and scope of the business events sector and its value to the visitor economy.
b) Evaluate potential sites for business events, devise a compelling event pitch and develop a comprehensive business event portfolio, showcasing strategic insights and industry best practices.
c) Analyse the importance of business events to the events industry and demonstrate the best practices in business events planning.
d) Apply stakeholder management theory to effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders involved with business events.
e) Apply professional and persuasive written, oral, and digital communication skills to effectively engage, negotiate, and lead within the events industry context.
