BUS301A
This subject provides ICMS students with hands-on experience collaborating in sustainable, social and/or organisational initiatives, working with community groups and businesses in Australia and beyond. This subject is designed to provide an important synthesising experience for all students to work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary project that would be directly linked to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The capstone will help students synthesise skills and knowledge at several levels; across disciplines, across theoretical and practical knowledge, and across multi-stakeholder sector experiences of entrepreneurship, thus demonstrating the achievement of ICMS’ Graduate Capabilities.
ICMS, as a member of the United Nations (UN) Academic Impact initiative wants to be proactive in helping achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as it serves as an incubator of new ideas, inventions and solutions to the many global challenges we face.
Outside the scope of this subject but incorporating ICMS’s philosophy of helping achieve the UN SDG, students will also be encouraged and mentored to apply to different national and international competitions and organisations that would be directly linked to this objective.
BUS301B
This capstone subject offers students a transformative, hands-on experience in collaborative engagement with sustainable, social and organisational initiatives. Working alongside community groups and businesses both within Australia and internationally, students will apply interdisciplinary knowledge to real-world challenges directly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
Designed as a culminating academic experience, the subject fosters the integration of theoretical and practical learning across disciplines, encouraging students to synthesise insights from economics, management, entrepreneurship, and social innovation. Through multi-stakeholder collaboration, students will demonstrate advanced problem-solving, ethical reasoning, and strategic thinking, which are hallmarks of ICMS Graduate Capabilities.
As a proud member of the United Nations Academic Impact initiative, ICMS is committed to advancing the UNSDGs by serving as an incubator for innovative ideas, solutions and entrepreneurial action. This subject reflects that commitment by positioning students as active contributors to global change.
Beyond the formal scope of the subject, students are encouraged and mentored to participate in national and international competitions and initiatives that further the SDG agenda, reinforcing ICMS’s philosophy of socially responsible leadership and global citizenship.
