Fox Sports’ Simon Hill speaks to ICMS Sports Management Students

November 7, 2018

Fox Sports chief football commentator Simon Hill visited the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) last week as a guest speaker to ICMS Bachelor of Sports students.

Hill, who joined Fox Sports in 2006, has covered football all over the world, including the Hyundai A-League, the English Premier League, the Asian Champions League and Socceroos Internationals. He has also worked for the BBC, ITV, Sky Sports, British Eurosport, ESPN Star and RAI International among others.

Hill spoke to students about the sports industry in general, and answered curious questions relating to his particular niche in the Australian sports commentary.

“Having Simon Hill and other guest speakers come into ICMS brings the real world into the classroom,” ICMS Event and Sport Management Program Manager Dr Alexander Roper said.

“It helps students see how what they are studying is relevant in the contemporary sports business industry and also allows them to ask what they see to be relevant questions, as well as to learn the importance of networking.”

British national Hill writes regular columns for the Fox Sports website, and is the Australian correspondent for the global World Soccer magazine. As well as his duties as lead commentator for Fox Sports’ Hyundai A-League coverage, Simon also hosted the weekly A-League Highlights Show until the end of the 2016-17 season.

“Simon wanted to speak to our student as he realises the importance of having new people coming through who know and understand sport well,” Roper said.

“He’s a great guy and made himself available for lots of photos and individual questions.”
