A Day to Remember: ICMS April 2025 Graduation Ceremonies

A Day to Remember: ICMS April 2025 Graduation Ceremonies

April 9, 2025

The April 2025 Graduation Ceremonies at the ICMS Northern Beaches Campus were vibrant celebrations filled with pride, reflection, and joy.

Set against the backdrop of the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel, the day honoured not just academic success but the hard work and growth of graduates from ICMS, Aspire Institute, and ISCA.

The day was split into two ceremonies, each filled with excitement and applause as graduates crossed the stage to claim their hard-earned degrees.

The morning ceremony spotlighted students from Business and Management programs, while the afternoon was dedicated to Tourism, Hospitality, and Events graduates.

For these students, it marked the culmination of years of studying, persevering, and becoming the professionals they’ve always aspired to be.

Words of Inspiration from a Graduate on her Career Path

Once an ICMS graduate herself, guest speaker Samantha Blomeley is now the Executive General Manager for Consumer and Marketing at GWS GIANTS

Reflecting on her time at ICMS, she told graduates, “You’ve completed a stage of your life that shows determination, hard work, and personal growth.”

Her advice was clear: soak in the connections, achievements, and experiences from your ICMS years.

“These moments stay with you forever and lay the foundation for your future success,” she said.

She also encouraged the graduates to take on life’s challenges boldly, reassuring them with a quote from Michael Jordan, “If you put forth the effort, good things will be bestowed upon you.”

Finding Passion and Staying Authentic Message from Industry Expert

Another highlight was the speech from Fiona Pereira, Marriot International Director of Talent Acquisition and Talent Management for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.

Her advice? Align who you are with what you do.

“Authenticity will lead to success,” Fiona shared.

She reminded graduates not every job you land will be your dream role right away but emphasised the importance of workplace culture and personal growth.

Quoting JW Marriott, she added, “Success is connected to action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they never quit.”

Graduate Speakers Reflect on ICMS Experience

Graduates didn’t just listen during this special day; they also shared their own journeys, like Bachelor of Event Management alumna Nicki Coleman

Nicki reflected on her time at ICMS, saying, “ICMS gave me the flexibility to thrive.

“Whether it was managing the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) lunch or balancing studies with national event work, the opportunities were unmatched.”

She credited her career growth to building strong industry connections, advising, “Say yes to challenges, even when they feel beyond your reach. You’ll figure it out.”

For Master of International Business graduate Peemmawat ‘Peter’ Rattanapupha, switching careers from medicine to business was his boldest and best decision.

“I chose happiness,” Peter said, urging graduates to take risks.

“Be bold. Be willing to accept the outcomes. You never know how close you are to achieving what you’ve always wanted.”

The Power of Education and Community

ICMS Deputy Vice Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) Professor Heidi Le Sueur summed up the spirit of the day.

“Education changes you,” she said.

“It stretches how you think, shifts what you value, and expands your understanding of the world. That transformation is what we hope we’ve sparked in you.”

She celebrated the ICMS community as a vital force in every graduate’s success.

“It’s not just about sandstone or sea views; it’s the people – lecturers, mentors, and classmates – who challenge and inspire you every step of the way.”

Professor Le Sueur encouraged graduates to keep curiosity close and knowledge closer, joining a global ICMS alumni network of leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers.

A Celebration of Diversity and Connection

Graduation day wasn’t just about personal achievements; it also celebrated the incredible diversity at ICMS. Graduates represented 26 different nationalities, highlighting how ICMS is an institution that connects the world.

After the formalities, graduates and their loved ones celebrated with smiles, photos and a cocktail reception – a perfect end to a day full of milestones, gratitude and hope for the future.

Graduation at ICMS is more than a ceremony; it’s a celebration of potential and an acknowledgment of the community that uplifts every student.

The Class of 2025 has shown what commitment can achieve, and we can’t wait to see what they do next.
