The International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) has been granted Self-Accrediting Authority (SAA) status by TEQSA in management and commerce and hospitality.
This significant milestone marks the next phase in ICMS’s progression toward achieving its long-term goal of becoming a University College.
With this recognition, ICMS joins an elite group of institutions.
We are now only the third provider in Australia to attain SAA in the management and commerce broad field of education, and the only provider in Australia to attain SAA in the food and hospitality narrow field of education.
“Today, we celebrate not just a milestone but a moment that reflects the vision, integrity and purpose of everyone at ICMS,” said ICMS President and Managing Director Rowan Courtney-O’Connor.
ICMS has spent 13 years working towards this challenging yet rewarding journey to SAA status.
Reflecting on this achievement, ICMS Founder Darryl Courtney-O’Connor described the day as “incredible” and compared the process to summiting Hillary Step on Mount Everest.
He likened this milestone to Hillary Step, because it’s the last major technical challenge on the South Col route before reaching the summit of Everest.
“The path to this point has been full of ups and downs, but we’ve climbed higher than ever,” he said.
This success is a collective achievement.
Special thanks were extended to the Academic and Quality Assurance teams, as well as key individuals who contributed over the years.
Their dedication and hard work laid the foundation for ICMS to achieve this recognition.
Founded in 1996, ICMS has spent nearly 30 years delivering industry-focused higher education.
With over 2,000 students from more than 50 countries, ICMS operates campuses in the Northern Beaches and in Sydney’s business district.
ICMS’s dedication to industry-relevant education is supported by over 1,000 industry partners, a fact that has long set it apart from other institutions.
While ICMS is widely recognised for its strengths in business and hospitality, the institution offers a diverse range of courses. These include bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees, pathway programs, and Study Abroad opportunities.
ICMS’s commitment to academic excellence is evident across all areas, from its industry-centered curriculum to its focus on the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoLT).
Beyond academics, ICMS shines in its civic role within the Northern Beaches community.
The college has a longstanding relationship with the Manly Business Chamber, showcasing its dedication to not just enhancing education but also strengthening local business partnerships.
The recognition of ICMS as a self-accrediting institution underlines its maturity and advancement, strengthening its position as a leader in higher education in Australia.
