If you’re weighing up your options after school, ICMS is offering four hands-on workshops in the July holidays.  

The free workshops run from 10am to 2pm at the ICMS Northern Beaches Campus and cover four distinct areas: Marketing, Events, Information Technology, and Fashion. 

These aren’t passive information sessions.  

You’ll engage in practical activities, tackle real problems, develop ideas, and work alongside ICMS lecturers and other motivated students.  

Consider it a meaningful introduction to both tertiary study and the professional world that follows. 

The Marketing Lab: From Hashtag to Headline

If business, creativity, or the psychology of consumer behaviour interests you, The Marketing Lab: From Hashtag to Headline is worth your time.  

The workshop runs on Tuesday 7 July, 10am to 2pm.  

You’ll learn how to craft a value proposition, explore what influences customer decisions, examine the channels behind today’s most successful campaigns, and finish the day by presenting your own marketing plan as part of a team.

Event Creation: From Vision to Execution

If you’ve ever thought about organising large-scale events, from school formals, to festivals, community gatherings and more, Event Creation: From Vision to Execution will show you how it’s done professionally.  

The workshop takes place on Wednesday 8 July, 10am to 2pm, and guides you through the full process of bringing an event to life, from the initial concept through to managing every operational detail.

Inside IT: Build, Defend and Analyse

For students with an interest in technology, Inside IT: Build, Defend and Analyse runs on Tuesday 14 July, 10am to 2pm.  

The session covers how information systems support modern organisations, introduces AI-assisted coding, explores cyber security principles, and gives you the opportunity to build your first data dashboard.  

Structured around four practical themes – build, create, defend and analyse – the day focuses on doing the work, not just observing it.

You’ll work through the process of developing a brand identity, understanding your target audience, and building marketing strategies, all guided by industry professionals.
