Events Specialist Joins ICMS Academic Operations Team

Events and hospitality specialist Brooke Cramond-Darvall has joined the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) as Program Manager (Events) within the Academic Operations portfolio. 

Brooke brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience across hospitality, events, catering, and business operations in Australia and the United Kingdom.  

In her new role, she will help lead the ongoing development of the Events program and give students the support and industry connections they need to build strong careers. 

“I am here to work closely with our Events students and help them get real experience with industry,” Brooke said.  

“I want every student to leave ICMS ready for work, confident in their skills, and connected to the sector they are stepping into.” 

Industry Expert With Experience to Share

Brooke has operated hospitality businesses in Sydney and worked with major organisations in event and venue management on both sides of the world. That practical background means she can share current trends and real industry insight with students, rather than theory alone. 

Her career has also spanned senior academic and operational leadership roles in higher education. She has led major projects including TEQSA re-registration, course accreditation, and academic quality work, giving her a clear view of what strong, industry-focused courses look like. 

Strong Academic Foundations

Brooke holds a Bachelor of Training and Development from the University of New England and an MBA from Griffith University. She is now undertaking higher degree by research at Griffith, studying curriculum design and work readiness in the hospitality industry. 

That research feeds directly into her work at ICMS, where the goal is to keep the Events course relevant and closely tied to what employers want from graduates. 

Supporting the Next Generation

Brooke will work alongside Dr Nicole Hay, Associate Dean (Tourism, Hospitality and Events), and Dr Johnnel Smith, Senior Program Manager (Tourism and Hospitality). Together they will focus on course quality, industry engagement, and helping students succeed. 

“Events is a fast-moving industry, and our students need to be ready for it,” Brooke said.  

“I am excited to help train the next generation of event managers and watch them thrive.” 

Building on a Strong Events Program

ICMS, located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and in the city, has built a strong reputation for producing industry-ready event management graduates through its Bachelor of Event Management and Master of Event Management.  

Brooke’s appointment adds practical industry knowledge and experienced leadership to a team focused on real careers, and it supports the continued development and delivery of the Events portfolio at ICMS.
