Almost 50% of Surveyed ICMS 2025 Graduates Now Work for Their WIL Host Organisation

For almost half of surveyed ICMS 2025 graduates in the workforce, the organisation where they completed their professional placement is now their employer. 

Internal survey data from the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) shows that almost 50% of surveyed 2025 graduates in the workforce are now employed by the same organisation where they completed their Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement (ICMS Internal Graduate Survey 2025, conducted October 2025).  

These results include graduates who were employed or actively seeking work; graduates not seeking employment are not counted. 

ICMS surveyed 63% of its 2025 graduate cohort, and the findings offer a useful snapshot of the outcomes industry-focused education can support. 

The result suggests a strong relationship between hands-on industry placements and employment outcomes for surveyed ICMS graduates. 

Strong graduate employability outcomes

“Many of our graduates make a strong impression during placement,” said ICMS President Rowan Courtney-O’Connor.  

“This reflects ICMS’ ongoing efforts to ensure our students embody employability. The results of the Internal Graduate Survey indicate our graduates are well prepared to transition into the workforce. “ 

Employability refers to a person’s ability to get and keep a job and to grow in their career. 

How the WIL program works

Every ICMS student completes Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects as part of their degree. 

These professional placements, or internships, are built directly into the course structure. Students spend up to 600 hours off campus and immersed in industry during the middle of their studies. 

ICMS works with more than 1,000 industry partners. This network allows students across all specialisations to be placed in roles that reinforce their academic learning through practical work in the field they plan to enter after graduating. 

The program is designed to give students practical workplace experience before graduation. They arrive on the job already familiar with workplace expectations, and employers get a firsthand look at their skills over an extended period. For many graduates, that experience becomes the foundation of their first full-time role. 

For prospective and current students, the data offers a straightforward message: the placement you complete during your degree can shape where your career begins.

Employment outcomes are calculated only for graduates who were employed or actively seeking employment. Graduates who indicated they were not seeking employment were excluded from these results.
