Academic Excellence Celebrated at ICMS Dean’s List Recognition Ceremony

November 28, 2022

The cream of ICMS’ academic crop were acknowledged and celebrated at the Dean’s List Recognition Ceremony held at the higher education institution’s Northern Beaches campus Great Hall on 23 November.

Eligible students were invited by International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr Heidi Le Sueur to be acknowledged for the hard work, dedication and commitment demonstrated to achieve stellar results in their specialisations.

Considering this was the first post-Covid Dean’s List Recognition Ceremony in three years, students from the 2021, February 2022 and May 2022 cohorts were invited. To be eligible, students must enrol in at least three subjects and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.5 out of 5.0 per term.

Celebrating in style

Champagne and snacks, flags representing the diverse nationalities of the ICMS student community, and speeches by alumni, current students and faculty, such as Dr Trevor Clark and Dr Leonid Petrov, added up to an evening of class and prestige worthy of students who have applied themselves and excelled in their course or degree of choice.

Student speaker Olivia Turner acknowledged the role ICMS faculty play in the students’ academic journeys, underlining ICMS’ ethos as The Professional Mentor. Olivia has made the Dean’s List in all three periods, 2021, February 2022 and May 2022.

“ICMS faculty and staff have motivated, encouraged, and kept classes alive through online learning as well. Overall, their support is what has helped me to achieve my best, and to be here today with these results.”

Alumnus guest speaker Marcelo Schmidt shared his inspiring journey from his home country of Brazil through to permanent residency in Australia. This was via his postgraduate degree at ICMS, academic excellence and his persistence in advancing his career through making the most of opportunities to further his professional development.

“What matters is that education changes the world. At least, at least it has changed my life so embrace it and have fun in the journey,” he said.
