As ICMS academic achievers were recognised and celebrated for their achievements at the recent Dean’s List Ceremony, key speakers acknowledged the supportive community of ICMS for its role in their scholarly success and personal growth.
Held at the Northern Beaches campus on 11 October, the ceremony honours outstanding results from students in their specialisations in the February and May 2023 trimesters. To be eligible, students must enrol in at least three subjects and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.5 out of 5.0 per term.
“Your hard work and dedication to your studies are accomplishments which reflect the values of ICMS,” Dr Heidi Le Sueur, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Learning and Teaching), said.
The ICMS community is a blend of international and domestic students. On the Dean’s List were students from countries such as Austria, Kenya, Philippines, China, Germany and more, in addition to students from Australia.
Underlining ICMS’ commitment to providing mentorship and support throughout students’ journeys from enrolment to graduation and beyond, Le Sueur said: “We are a diverse community among student and staff… We are a home away from home for our international students.”
Master of International Business student Carolin Jeffraim, from Germany, paid tribute to this ethos in her speech. She shared how her initial Study Abroad trimester became an opportunity to stay longer and study a postgraduate degree thanks to the support she received from the ICMS community.
“As a student from Germany, I have never experienced an academic journey like that which ICMS is offering us, with its diverse student community. It’s more than just about sharing classrooms, it’s about sharing experiences with people from diverse backgrounds, making it an environment where every day is a cultural exchange,” Carolin said.
“The Master program at ICMS is truly exceptional and represents a unique opportunity to start a successful career that transcends borders and opens doors. ICMS is a place where academic excellence goes hand in hand with personal and professional growth.
“It hasn’t always been easy to perform academically… but no matter how hard and challenging some periods have been, with ICMS I always found the support and encouragement needed to help me bring out the best in myself to achieve my goals.”
Bachelor of Event Management first year student Naomi Keywood echoed Carolin’s comments.
“The ICMS faculty is incredibly approachable, and they genuinely care about our success. Whether it’s seeking clarification or advice personally from lecturers, their guidance overall has been invaluable,” she said.
“My first year as an ICMS student been a remarkable journey of growth and learning and I am excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
“I am confident that with the strong foundation ICMS has provided me, I will continue to learn, grow, and thrive in the event management industry.”
