Subject Rationale:

Every modern business is directly and indirectly affected by big data. Therefore, managers must be equipped with the core knowledge and key skills to understand big data and how it is processed and translated into business value. Without such understanding, managers would not be able to devise competitive action and make strategic decisions required to survey and succeed in today’s data-driven business landscape.  

This subject is designed to empower students with the fundamentals of big data and analytics explaining what big data is and how it differs from non-big data. The subject also delves into systems, techniques, and technologies required to collect, process, and utilise big data. 

At the end of this subject, students will have acquired a set of unique skills and a core body of knowledge to understand and operate big data driven businesses.
