Subject Aim:

This subject aims to equip students with a variety of management accounting skills and knowledge to enable a greater understanding of business and managing a variety of stakeholder interests.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of how the various management tools and techniques are used by management for planning, decision making, performance evaluation and business control.
  2. Demonstrate how to set budgets and perform variance analysis to actual results.
  3. Demonstrate the use of a range of measurements tools for performance evaluation and business control.
  4. Evaluate how management accounting practices can improve stakeholder value.
  5. Evaluate ethics in managing business performance.

Student Assessment:

Exams will take place in weeks 12 & 13. Please refer to the official Exam Timetable for further information.

The purpose of the assessment tasks is to demonstrate that students have met the learning objectives as set out above. Informal questioning will be used frequently during lectures and tutorials to provide feedback to students on their current level of learning and to highlight areas for development. A final exam will assess students overall assimilation of subject concepts. Assignment briefs will be made available during class and on Moodle.
