Students studying a Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Business (Sports Management), Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship and Innovation), Bachelor of Business (Marketing), Bachelor of Business (International Tourism) and Bachelor of Hospitality Management will be enrolled in SPO202B in 2027. Students enrolled in all other courses at ICMS with this subject will complete SPO202A.This arrangement applies to the nested Diploma qualifications of these courses also.

This subject investigates the areas of modern event management and the nature of all aspects of staging (sports) events in (sports) facilities from grassroots and community complexes to global stadiums and arenas and provides the framework of planning, designing, marketing, operation, managing risks, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and research required for professional implementation in the industry.

To this end, the subject embraces the latest industry trends and extends the growing body of knowledge relating to the role of marketing and communication, environmental planning, the increasing role of governments through the creation of event strategies, and the different perspectives of planning and running sporting event.
