Subject Aim:

Sports Facilities and Events Management provides students with an overview of the management principles, processes and practices associated with facility and event management.

This subject investigates the areas of modern event management and the nature of all aspects of staging (sports) events in (sports) facilities from grassroots and community complexes to global stadiums and arenas and provides the framework of planning, designing, marketing, operation, managing risks, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and research required for professional implementation in the industry.

To this end, the subject embraces the latest industry trends and extends the growing body of knowledge relating to the role of marketing and communication, environmental planning, the increasing role of governments through the creation of event strategies, and the different perspectives of planning and running sporting event.

Learning Outcomes:

a) Explain the key principles of sports facility management and sports event management.

b) Analyse the potential risks and safety regulations associated with sports facility management and sports event management.

c) Apply methodological and practical tools of facility and event management to sport, environment and sustainable development.

d) Present an effective and sustainable sporting event plan.
