Graduation

Dear Students,

As the world continues to grapple with COVID-19, the world continues to face new challenges as a result of the health restrictions and guidelines put in place to limit its transmission. Being able to provide an excellent student experience remains paramount for ICMS; therefore, we continue to find new ways to onboard and engage students in their studies as well as to celebrate successes.

As you probably are aware, the next Graduation ceremony is due to be held on Friday 13th November 2020. ICMS has recently made the difficult decision that, given the continued limits on large gatherings as a result of COVID-19, the 13th November 2020 ceremony will now take place online. This, being ICMS’ first ever online Graduation will be an exciting event that you can plan to view with your friends and families. #icmsgraduation2020

Having already postponed the April 2020 Graduation, due to the strict lock down, we determined to embrace the available technologies to create an event to celebrate your achievements and to show the world that at ICMS not even a global pandemic can get in the way of this important moment!

So please read the information below, get registered and, although not what you or we at ICMS had originally planned for your Graduation Day, please embrace this online event as we will be working hard to make it special for you.

Please see below further important information:

Friday 13th November 2020 Graduation Ceremony Online Only

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 November graduation ceremony will not proceed face to face, but only online. All eligible students and their families/ friends will be able to access the live streaming event from the ICMS Graduation Page on the day.

What does this mean for you?

Be assured, if you’re eligible to graduate the status of your graduation is unaffected. You will automatically graduate in absentia, which means your degree will still be conferred on the same date as scheduled and you will officially become a graduate of ICMS. You do not need to do anything additional to graduate in absentia.

Can I defer my Graduation to 2021?

Given the nature of the global pandemic, and the uncertainty as to whether on campus graduations will be allowed even by April 2021, we cannot, unfortunately encourage any further deferrals, hence all students who completed their programs in 2020 will have graduated in absentia and will have their awards conferred through the online event.

What about my graduation documents?

All eligible students will have their degrees conferred on the same date as scheduled, and their graduation documents (testamur and academic transcript) will be mailed to them. Hard copies will be posted within 4 weeks from the graduation date; however, there may be delays with Australia Post  due to COVID-19.

How do I register for the online graduation event?

In the next couple of weeks, we will send you an e-form to formally register for the online event, but also to confirm your full name (which will be printed on the graduation documents) as well as your preferred postal address.

I have paid for the Graduation fee in April, can I receive a refund?

Yes! Since the face to face ceremony will not go ahead you are eligible for a refund. To request it please fill in this Refund E-form.

Can I have my award conferred if I still have outstanding fees?

Unfortunately, not, but there is time to resolve any issues in good time. Please contact the Finance team if this is a potential issue for you.

We look forward to celebrating this important milestone with you!
