High Praise from ICMS Wellington College Scholarship Winners

November 1, 2017

Opportunity Knocks For Students Fortunate Enough To Be A Recipient Of One Of The Many Scholarships Offered By The International College Of Management, Sydney (Icms).

The award-winning higher education institution, located in Manly, NSW, has given out over $1million (AUD) in scholarships this year alone, in conjunction with industry partners, as part of the ICMS Professional Scholarship Program.

A scholarship held particularly in high regard is the Wellington College Scholarship, awarded to a Wellington College student in the name of an alumnus of Wellington College, Mr Darryl Courtney-O’Connor, Founder and Chairman, ICMS.

Open to all Year 13 students at Wellington College, based in New Zealand, this annual scholarship – which is valued up to $40 000 – rewards performance, dedication, passion, community contribution and academia. The Wellington College Scholarship for 2018 will be either tuition funding or accommodation funding according to the scholarship panel’s decision in November.

Previous recipients of Wellington College Scholarships shared recently how winning this scholarship changed their lives and set them firmly on track for a successful career.

“If you want a truly life changing experience then I would recommend ICMS,” Harry Peters, currently working in Elite Sales at Hudl, said. “The people you meet, the location and the education are second to none.”

“The opportunities you gain from international connections and networks is invaluable and will put you above the student who has taken the norm and gone to New Zealand universities,” Dean Millar, Assistant Commercial Facilities Manager at Scentre Group, said.

Thomas Snaddon is currently studying at ICMS as one of two Wellington College scholarship recipients for 2017, completing his third semester studying a Bachelor of Business Management with subjects specialising in Marketing and New Media.

“Before heading off on the great opportunity of Industry Placement next year I am working part-time in education at the Australian Bridal Service (with previous Wellington College recipient Riva Williams). If you want to truly kick-start your career in an amazing environment with great support, try for ICMS.”

George Mitchell, Digital content & Engineering Coordinator at the NRMA, enjoys the diversity at ICMS, with the opportunity to meet and mingle with international students.

“Being able to learn and network in an enjoyable environment with people around the world is an experience unlike anything you would experience in an NZ university.”

Scholarships take varying forms and are offered by ICMS, located in Manly, to top candidates – both domestic, international, new and existing – in conjunction with industry partners. Scholarships comprise tuition fee waivers, cash and work placement opportunities. This is designed to ensure recipients are given every opportunity to make a success of their chosen career and according to an ICMS survey, almost 90% of students graduate with a job in their field.

“ICMS has awarded over 65 scholarships this year and 48 scholarships to students at the start of 2017. We hope to top that when we begin again in 2018,” Ann Whitelock, Chair of the ICMS Professional and Corporate Scholarship fund, said. “We hope students hear this message and have a go.”
