March 3, 2022

The International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) congratulates student Lachlan Shaw for his inclusion in the Australian U19 side that competed at the recent ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.

Shaw is a King’s School Old Boy and is currently in his second year of an ICMS Bachelor of Business (Sports Management) degree.

The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup

The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup is an international cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council and contested by national under-19 teams. According to Australia’s under-19 coach, Anthony Clark, the team was comprised of players from diverse disciplines in the domestic cricket realm.  Clarke, asserts each player exhibited exemplary performances throughout the season’s cricket competitions, thereby proving their ability and their deserved position on this national team.

The international limited-overs cricket tournament, which Shaw played in, was held in the West Indies in January and February 2022. Out of 16 teams competing from around the world, the Australian U19 team placed third in the tournament, behind England in second place and India as the winners.

“It was an amazing experience playing against some of the best cricketers in the world at U19 level,” Shaw, a right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper, said.

“The places that the squad went to, and memories shared together, was a life changing experience and one that will always be remembered. I’m very grateful for the opportunity.”

Dr Trevor Clark, ICMS Dean (Undergraduate), who has himself built a successful career around his passion for sport performance and tertiary education, has this message for Lachlan; “Well done Lachlan. You’ve chosen a great field of study that aligns well with your sporting talent and future ambitions. The faculty at ICMS congratulates you on your inclusion at the ICC u19 Cricket World Cup and wishes you a long and rewarding cricket and professional career.”
