Global Engagement Examples

  • ICMS Bachelor of Hospitality Management student Jack Parsons represented ICMS at the 2024 Young Hospitality Summit (YHS) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Jack impressed through a rigorous selection process to be part of around 80 delegates from 26 countries who attended the prestigious Summit held at the EHL, the oldest hotel school in the world.   • ICMS lecturers David Addison and Janene Wardrop traveled to remote Guiyang, China, in 2023 to teach students as part of an exchange between ICMS and Guizhou University of Commerce (GZUC). This engagement, initiated as an idea in 2017 after discussions between ICMS and the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE), aligns with ICMS’ strategic objectives of global engagement and civic leadership.
  • Professor Perry Hobson, who leads the Academy for Tourism at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) in the Netherlands, visited ICMS in 2024 to share valuable insights on “Creating impactful scholarship through inter-institutional collaborations.” Besides delivering a seminar to ICMS faculty, he also gave guest lectures to ICMS postgraduate event and tourism students during his visit to Australia.
