Dr Maree Gosper

Dr Maree Gosper

Academic Board

Dr Maree Gosper has over 25 years of experience in higher education working as a researcher, teacher and academic developer. The interrelated nature of these pursuits has enabled both scope and depth in her knowledge and experience of the sector.

The research underpinning her work encompasses integrating information and communications technologies into the curriculum, the development of expertise, student’s experiences of technologies, and leading and managing the development of effective and sustainable learning environments.  Key outputs have included the MAPLET Framework for matching aims, processes, learner expertise and technologies and the CICTO Framework for selecting technology solutions for quality learning and sustainable practice.  Two ALTC projects, in particular, have had substantial impact on the sector – Impact of web-based lecture technologies on learning and teaching (2006-2008) and Building distributed leadership in designing and implementing a quality management framework for online learning environments (2010-2012) as has another cross-institution project, Students’ Expectations and Experience of Technologies (2010-2014).

At an International level, she has assessed grants and awards for the Singapore Ministry of Education and at a national level for the Carrick Institute, the ALTC, the OLT and individual Universities. She has also served on the Higher Education Assessment Panel (NSW Dept of Education).  She’s also reviewed for numerous international and national journals and conferences (e.g., HERDSA, Ascilite, ETR&D, Computers in Education, AJET, RLT, TKL, JUTLP) and Associate Editor for Technology, Knowledge and Learning.  A long standing member of Ascilte and HERDSA; she has also represented Macquarie University on ACODE for over 1O years and served on the Executive Committee.

Combined with many years of teaching, largely at postgraduate level, her experience provides a solid platform for working in flexible and online learning environments, internationalisation, curriculum renewal, student engagement, policy development and quality enhancement. It has allowed her to identify trends and priorities, respond to the issues and imperatives at hand and lead change.

In relation to academic governance activities, she has served on the Academic Board of Asia Pacific International College, and as Chair of the Australian College of Physical Education and Chair of Academic Board for Study Group East. Currently she is Chair of the Academic Board for the Institute of Emotionally Focussed Therapy.  In addition, she is a long standing member of the Steering Committee for the Chairs of Academic Boards Forum.
